Michael Hatton, RPA, SMA, SASHE
Vice President
Memorial Hermann Healthcare System
Houston, TX

Michael Hatton is Memorial Hermann’s Vice President of Facilities Engineering and President of the Texas Association of Health Care Facility Managers.

In his role as a Vice President, Michael has always been a true advocate for the field. He understands the significance of his teams' contributions to the Memorial Health System and ultimately the patients in their care. More importantly, he ensures that they have the resources and support to maximize their contribution to value to mission of the organization.

Under Michael’s leadership, Memorial Hermann has saved $87 million since beginning its energy conservation initiative in 2008. Today, nine of Memorial Hermann’s thirteen hospitals are Energy Star-certified. This is an incredible achievement when you consider that only 56 hospitals across the country currently have this certification.

Michael’s role as a VP in the Memorial Hermann health system does not preclude him from volunteering in an effort to advance our field. Michael is currently serving as the President of the Texas Association of Health Care Facilities Managers. He also developed and organized the first ever ASHE chapter energy challenge in Texas, which has grown to include other states. Michael sits on the ASHE sustainability committee, as well, and is leading the effort to update the 2010 Energy Star survey.

Michael’s tireless pursuit to advance our profession and share the knowledge he has gained in his successful career are unparalleled. That is why we are pleased to announce Michael as the 2016 President’s Award recipient.
